Joanna McKethan, SW, WSNC, and a member of Portrait Society of America, has a passion for painting portraits which began with a correspondence art course, was renewed under the tutelage of German Master Bergheim in Munich, Germany, painting figures and faces for three and a half years. She resumed instruction under now deceased master Thomas Buechner, author of How I Paint, Secrets of a Sunday Painter, and editor of the definitive Rockwell. She has continued her portraiture from her private studio where she developed her version of grisailles which bypass the laborious system of mixing black and white oil paints. Come learn to produce this all-important foundational technique which transforms portraits: learn why the Masters used this technique and what follows, all from this teacher of art for 32 years.
